What it is
Tomorrow.Mobility World Congress (TMWC) is the urban-mobility event held within Smart City Expo World Congress at Fira Barcelona’s Gran Via venue. It is co-organised by Fira Barcelona and EIT Urban Mobility, the urban-mobility initiative of the EU’s European Institute of Innovation and Technology. The 2026 edition runs on 3-5 November in Barcelona, with the halls open from 9:00 to 19:00 on the first two days and until 17:00 on the third.
How the programme works
The congress has one main stage and two thematic stages for mobility, with more than 240 speakers in 2026. Its topics include air-quality data, Vision Zero road safety, electrification, battery waste and seamless multimodality and parking. City practitioners are well represented: the 2026 line-up includes Prague’s deputy mayor for transport, the head of Vilnius’s municipal mobility company JUDU, the secretary general of the POLIS network and the European Commission’s head of unit for innovation and urban mobility at DG MOVE.
Next to the congress is the Mobility Playground, a start-up area with its own stage and demo zone. EIT Urban Mobility experts lead guided tours of it. The event also hosts the Barcelona Innova Lab Mobility challenge, which in 2026 sought AI solutions for traffic management in a real urban setting.
Who goes and how to take part
TMWC shares its passes with Smart City Expo. The passes page lists a three-day Visitor Pass at EUR 200 and a Full Congress Pass at EUR 1,250, both including VAT. The Visitor Pass covers the exhibition, the open stages and open side events; the main stage needs a congress pass. People working in government can apply for a complimentary pass, and public-sector delegations can request VIP guided tours of the exhibition. The 2026 call for speakers has closed.
What came out of the last edition
The 2025 summary lists five takeaways, the same set as Smart City Expo. Two are specific to transport: resilience comes from offering several modes rather than depending on one, and cities can use disruptive moments to test transit-first strategies and reduce car dependence.
Why it matters for cities
Trams, cycle networks and low-emission zones are the most concrete projects in many futurehubs city profiles. TMWC is one of the few places where the people running those projects in European cities, the EU’s transport directorate and the supplier market meet in the same halls.
Going, or following from home
If you are already going to Smart City Expo, TMWC needs no extra ticket. A government complimentary pass is the cheapest way in for public officials, but approval is up to the organiser.
