What it is
The Transilvania Digital Innovation Summit (TDIS) is the yearly event of TEDIHT, the European Digital Innovation Hub in Transylvania. The hub is a regional consortium set up in 2017, coordinated by Transilvania IT Cluster with Babeș-Bolyai University, the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, the INCDTIM research institute, Hygia and RODIH, and part-funded by the EU’s Digital Europe programme. The summit is about digital transformation and AI for companies and the public sector.
The second edition took place on 8 October 2026 at the Elitis Events Center in Cluj-Napoca, the same venue as the first. According to the organiser’s report, more than 550 people attended.
How the programme works
It is a single day of talks, demonstrations and networking. In 2026, under the theme “Digital Bloom”, the programme had 52 speakers, four keynotes and seven debate sessions, two of them in parallel. One keynote, by an expert from the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre, was about public administration in the digital era. The debates covered preparing organisations for AI, digitalising public services, leadership in the AI era and the role of European Digital Innovation Hubs. An exhibition area let participants try regional companies’ products, and more than 100 business meetings were arranged on the day.
Who goes and how to take part
The audience is mixed: companies, public institutions, universities, start-ups and investors. The organiser stresses that no IT background is needed. In 2026 TEDIHT partners, collaborators and beneficiaries, and members of Transilvania IT Cluster, could attend free with a discount code. We did not find a public ticket price for others.
What came out of the 2026 edition
The main announcement was institutional. TEDIHT is becoming a Regional Artificial Intelligence Office, giving SMEs and local public authorities in the region access to specialists, expertise and technical infrastructure, with courses, training and demonstrations.
Why it matters for cities
For municipalities in north-west Romania the summit is the visible front of services that continue all year. TEDIHT runs a standing working group on public administration digitalisation for institutions in the North-West region, and its second phase, TEDIHT 2.0, is to give 187 Romanian companies and public institutions free digitalisation support over three years (hub site).
