What it is
This is not a single conference. It is the calendar of events that Climate KIC lists on its Attend an event page, narrowed to the dated, in-person events that concern cities. Climate KIC was founded in 2010 as one of the first Knowledge and Innovation Communities of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, and since 2025 it has operated as a financially and operationally independent public benefit organisation. It describes its work as place-based: climate action grounded in the cities and regions where people live, done together with governments, cities and businesses.
Because the events belong to different hosts, Climate KIC’s role varies. Sometimes it co-organises and runs sessions; sometimes it sends a speaker to someone else’s conference. Each entry below says which.
What is on the autumn 2026 calendar
Valencia, 21-22 October. VDS is a technology conference, in its ninth edition, at the City of Arts and Sciences, aimed at startups, scaleups, corporates, investors and public leaders. Climate KIC’s contribution is one round table on how cities build the ecosystems that take climate innovation from pilot to deployment. It ends on a practical question: what single mechanism would make one city or region significantly more resilient within three years.
Warsaw, 28 October. The most city-focused item is a one-day event during Circular Week 2026, which Climate KIC co-organises for the European Commission’s Circular Cities and Regions Initiative. Climate KIC leads a two-part hands-on workshop built from the work of eight CCRI Communities of Practice, covering topics from circular business models and waste to urban planning and indicators. The rest of the day includes an introduction from DG Research and Innovation, a session on policy lessons, a knowledge marketplace of posters and tools, and a roundtable of cities and mentors. The workshop is in person only. Public authorities at local, regional and national level are named first among the intended participants.
Paris, 2-6 November. The Nature-based Solutions International Congress is organised by SOLU-BIOD and NetworkNature with partners including Sorbonne University and the City of Paris. It expects more than 500 researchers, practitioners, city and region representatives and others. Climate KIC will be present during the “NetworkNature Week”.
Why it matters for cities
The three events cover three different routes into urban climate work: resilience and the innovation ecosystem around it, the circular economy as a matter of municipal governance, and nature-based solutions. For a city officer, the Warsaw day is the one designed around peer learning between cities and regions; the other two are larger events where Climate KIC is one voice among many. Valencia, Warsaw and Paris each have a futurehubs profile: Valencia, Warsaw and Greater Paris.
Going, or following from home
Registration for each event runs through its own page, and we could not find prices published. None of the three event pages announces a livestream, so assume these are in-person events.
