The municipality of Leeuwarden opened the Energiehuis Leeuwarden on 20 October in the Bilgaard neighbourhood. Residents of the municipality can now go there with questions about saving energy, insulation, making their homes more sustainable and subsidies. The centre gives households a physical place to get information and advice on making their homes more energy-efficient.

What the Energiehuis offers

The Energiehuis is a place where residents can get information and advice on making their home more energy-efficient. A staff member helps visitors get started, for example with information about measures and subsidies. Residents do not need to know exactly which measures they want to take. People who do not yet know where to begin can also come to the Energiehuis, and together with staff they look at what suits their home and situation.

Opening hours and location

  • Days: Wednesday to Friday
  • Hours: 10.00 to 16.00
  • Address: Bilgaardpassage 56A, Leeuwarden

Policy background

The opening comes a few months after Leeuwarden presented its new coalition agreement, ‘Ruimte voor de toekomst’, on 10 June. The agreement was presented by the group leaders of PRO, D66, VVD and CDA and sets out ambitions for the governing period 2026–2030. It describes Leeuwarden as a growing municipality that is developing further as the capital of Fryslân and an important player in the region. In the agreement, the municipality chooses an approach aimed at liveable neighbourhoods and villages, affordable housing and equal opportunities for residents. Leeuwarden also wants to carry out existing plans by working together with residents, businesses and community partners. The new aldermen were due to be installed on Wednesday 17 June. In the new executive, alderman Evert Stellingwerf holds the portfolio for space, area development, sustainability and mobility.
