Bergen’s Planning and Building Agency has completed its plan proposal for the Kaigaten-Sandviken section of the Bybanen light rail extension to Åsane. On Thursday the proposal goes to the city council’s department for urban development, which will prepare it for its first round of political consideration.

The agency’s director, Tarje Wanvik, says the most important parts of the commission have been resolved and recommends that the proposal be put out for public consultation. The main features are to be presented at a press conference on 1 October, attended by the councillor for urban development, Eivind Nævdal-Bolstad. The step moves this stretch of the light rail project from technical planning into the political process, where residents are expected to have their say if the plan goes to consultation.
