What it is

DevTalks is an expo-conference for software developers and IT professionals, held in Romania since 2014. The main edition takes place in Bucharest each June. The 2026 one, the 13th, ran on 3 and 4 June at Romexpo, with more than 160 speakers spread over 14 stages, according to the organiser’s Why Attend page. A smaller one-day edition is held in Cluj-Napoca each September; in 2026, its ninth edition there, it took place on 24 September at Cluj Innovation Park.

The organiser calls DevTalks the largest tech conference in Central and Eastern Europe. We have not seen an independent attendance count, so treat that as the organiser’s own description.

How the programme works

The Bucharest edition is organised by stage, each with its own subject: Java, web, mobile, full stack and cloud, AI and big data, DevOps, cybersecurity, quality engineering, engineering leadership and more. Alongside the talks there are roundtable workshops limited to 20 people per session, and an expo area. The Cluj-Napoca edition is a compact version with three stages: a Main Stage on AI, data and IoT, a Programming Stage, and a Java Stage. The organiser expected more than 2,500 attendees and over 50 speakers there in 2026.

Who goes and how to take part

The FAQ says the event is open to developers at every level, IT professionals and anyone interested in technology. Tickets come in three tiers, General, Premium and VIP, and the price rises over four sale periods. For the 2026 Bucharest edition the tickets page listed a free General Pass during pre-registration, then 169 euro at early-bird rates; Premium started at 219 euro and VIP at 299 euro, all before VAT. The General Pass does not include the Main Stage or the DevLead Stage.

Why it matters for cities

DevTalks is not a city-policy event: its programme is aimed at developers rather than at public administrations. Its value for city officials and economic development teams is as a view of the developer workforce that Romanian tech hubs depend on: which skills employers recruit for and which companies are investing locally. The Cluj-Napoca edition, at the city’s innovation park, sits alongside Cluj Innovation Days as one of the city’s regular tech fixtures.

Going, or following from home

The DevTalks home page gives 9 and 10 June as the dates of the next Bucharest edition, in 2027, but no venue yet. No date has been published for the 2027 Cluj-Napoca edition. The event is in person; recordings go to ticket holders, and we found no public livestream.
