Kindergarten No. 156 in Yerevan’s Kanaker-Zeytun administrative district has reopened following a full renovation. It now runs six groups for 180 children and has been supplied with new furniture and equipment.

The project is one of 15 kindergartens rebuilt or renovated in the first phase of the city’s energy-efficiency programme, carried out by the city hall with backing from the national government, the European Investment Bank, the E5P fund and the UN Development Programme. The same programme has improved energy performance in 47 other public buildings, among them health and cultural facilities. For Yerevan, this links better conditions for young children with lower energy use across municipal buildings, spreading the upgrade from preschools to clinics and cultural venues.
