Uppsala municipality will officially open Lyrikparken, a new city park next to the old water tower in Ulleråker, on Saturday 29 August. The opening also presents Elegy, a public artwork by the artist Dodda Maggý that combines physical design, sound and augmented reality (AR). The event marks the completion of a park built in two stages and adds a piece of public art to the district’s green space.

What the park offers

Lyrikparken was developed in two stages. The first part, with a playground and picnic areas, opened in 2024. The whole park is now finished and offers terraced slopes, footpaths up the hill, seating and viewpoints over the area.

How the artwork works

Elegy is already in place in the park. Through sound and AR, accessed via the municipal app Uppsala konst och kulturarv (Uppsala art and cultural heritage), the work interacts with the park’s nature, play and movement. According to the municipality, it gives visitors a chance to discover the place in new ways and offers a poetic experience of the site.
