Turin’s city executive has approved energy upgrades worth €861 thousand on three municipal buildings, the city announced on 20 October 2026. The works are expected to avoid 129 tonnes of CO2 emissions a year. They are part of EfficienTO, the city’s plan to improve the energy performance of about 850 municipal buildings by 2030.

What was approved

The project was proposed by Chiara Foglietta, the councillor for ecological transition and environmental policies. It covers three sites:

  • offices at via Corte d’Appello 16;
  • the Casalegno primary school at via Acciarini 20;
  • the complex at via Ormea 45.

The via Ormea complex houses the registry office, the seat of District 8 and a community centre (Centro Incontro). The stated aims are lower consumption, lower emissions and more efficient, comfortable spaces for the people who use the buildings every day.

What the works include

The works cover both the building envelope and the technical systems. At via Corte d’Appello 16, the electric pumps will be replaced, thermostatic valves installed and the heat exchanger insulated. The light fittings there will also be replaced and a new smart building management system (BMS) installed. At the Casalegno school, the floor slab towards the attic will be insulated. At via Ormea 45, the light fittings will be replaced.

Background

This is not the only recent approval of its kind. On 28 July 2026, the city announced €880 thousand of works for safer and more efficient systems in municipal buildings. That decision was an extraordinary maintenance project on schools and other city properties.
