Solna’s governing coalition, Solnakoalitionen, has agreed to lead the municipality for the 2026-2030 term. The Social Democrats, the Left Party, the Centre Party and the Green Party presented a governing programme of 90 political points. The programme sets the city’s priorities for schools, safety, the economy and the green transition for the coming term.
What was agreed
The coalition says it will continue working towards a sustainable, equal and successful Solna where all children succeed in school. The basis for its cooperation is the governing programme, whose guiding themes are a continued school drive, a safe upbringing for all children, sustainability and sound public finances. Sara Kukka-Salam of the Social Democrats will continue to lead the coalition. She is also chair of the municipal executive board. The other party representatives are Omer Khan (Left Party), Indra Karreskog Rehbinder (Centre Party) and Martin Marmgren (Green Party).
Schools and safety
The school drive started in the previous term is to continue. Planned measures include:
- smaller classes;
- more certified teachers;
- stronger pupil health services;
- extended support for pupils who need it.
On safety, the coalition will combine clear work against crime with early interventions that give children and young people better prospects. Omer Khan said the most effective way to stop young people being drawn into crime is to offer them something better at an early stage.
Economy and climate
The coalition wants Solna to remain a municipality where a sound economy and a thriving business sector support strong welfare. It plans to develop the Solna model so that more residents become self-supporting, in close cooperation with local businesses. Indra Karreskog Rehbinder said Solna should have Sweden’s best business climate, for both large and small companies.
On the environment, the programme commits the city to cut climate emissions, clean its waterways, improve air quality, preserve and develop green areas and increase biodiversity. Martin Marmgren described the climate and environmental crisis as the defining issue of our time.
